Following the announcement of plans to manage an integrated resort on Phu Quoc Island, Mövenpick enters another Vietnamese resort destination with the signing of a beachfront resort near Nha Trang.
Slated to welcome guests in 2018, Mövenpick Resort Cam Ranh Bay will be located on 20 hectares of land and feature 250 guestrooms, 100 residences and 100 villas. The property will become the fourth Mövenpick hotel in Vietnam, with the new Phu Quoc resort and another property in Quy Nhon joining the existing Movenpick Hanoi over the next two years.
In Malaysia, the Swiss hospitality group signed a deal to manage the 30-storey Mövenpick Hotel Kota Bharu, a 453-room luxury hotel in the state of Kelantan. Also opening in 2018, the addition takes the group’s portfolio in Malaysia to three properties, following the opening of other new hotels in Kuala Lumpur and Terengganu.
Mövenpick also is scheduled to unveil its fifth hotel in Thailand, with Mövenpick Siam Hotel Pattaya welcoming its first guests next month, and to debut in Bali and Boracay in 2016.
“We are rapidly cementing a solid presence in Southeast Asia, where we have identified strong growth opportunities for the upscale hospitality concepts Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts delivers,” said Andrew Langdon, senior vice president for Asia, Mövenpick.
“With the new properties signed for Vietnam and Malaysia, we see our cluster strategies for these exciting markets start to be realised, while our debuts in new countries mark another milestone in our strategy to be a major player in a region where we plan to open at least 15 new properties by 2020.”
