Last week I attended a luncheon with Andrew Phelan, general manager, Lough Erne Resort. Held at New York City’s iconic 21 Club, we heard about exciting new things going on at the stunning property. The picturesque 5-star resort is set on a 600-acre peninsula between two lakes near Enniskillen in Northern Ireland. The property boasts 120 luxury guestrooms and suites, six conference and meeting rooms and various dining experiences. Lough Erne is the only resort in Ireland and the United Kingdom to offer a traditional Thai spa. The spa employs Thai therapists trained in Thailand using traditional Thai therapies. Special treatments for couples, golfers and expecting mothers are available. The Faldo Championship Golf Course, set on the waters of Lough Erne, was designed by six-time Major Championship winner Nick Faldo. Lough Erne Resort is set to host the 2017 Irish Open golf tournament. For golfers looking to improve their game, take advantage of Lough Erne’s Golf Academy. The practice facility offers individual lessons with video analysis. Lough Erne was named Hotel of the Year in 2014 by the Northern Ireland Tourism Board. With the magnificent setting, luxurious accommodations and exclusive amenities, it’s not hard to see why. — Katie Skrzek, digital director

Sep 30, 2026Review: Sushi by Scratch at Grand Hyatt Deer Valley
Husband-and-wife team Phillip Frankland Lee and Margarita Kallas-Lee made their mark by reinventing the term “hidden gem” through their surprising and intentional collection of destination restaurants. While they launched the original Scratch Kitchen in 2013, an expired lease prompted them to relocate to an unassuming strip mall in suburban Encino in 2015 and rename it Scratch Bar & Kitchen. Even at a time when the San Fernando Valley was not known for innovative 5-star dining, the Lees’ concepts gathered such a strong buzz that discerning diners cheerfully followed them “over the hill.”
