Sleep: It’s A Beautiful Thing For Frequent Travelers

May 20, 2015
Daily / Feature

Six Senses Laamu offers sleep butlers; staff specially trained in the art of transitioning guests into a positive sleep experience despite time-zone travel.

The Six Senses Spas Yogic Sleep Program draws on the experience of Piyada Phongphaet and Vinod Narayanan, the skilled hosts who guide guests through the personalized sleep program and offer expert advice on techniques to the greatest benefit for participants.

The Six Senses Yogic Sleep program strives to rejuvenate the body and the mind, reduce stress levels, improve sleep quality and enhance one’s sense of well being. Additionally, the program helps enhance attention span and improve creativity and overall mood. It can also lead to the discovery of true inner self. These results are achieved with a series of yoga techniques such as yoga nidra (yogi sleep) and pranayama (breathing exercises), guided meditation and also by traditional Ayurvedic and holistic treatments.

Participants in the Six Senses Yogic Sleep program begin with a wellness consultation to establish areas that need attention, including fitness, nutritional or stress-related deficiencies. The sleep butler then coordinates class and treatments reservations, shares nutritional advice and ensures villa accommodations are optimized for ideal sleep conditions.

Adjustments at turndown include ensuring interior room temperatures are set between 68 and 72 degrees Fahrenheit, controlled lighting, essential oil burners and herbal teas. High-quality sheets and bedding are also key to improving the quality of sleep and inducing a good night’s rest.
