Europe is the most popular international summer destination among American travelers, according to the 2015 Summer Travel Guide from travel insurance comparison website InsureMyTrip. The data highlights a number of different trends ahead of the summer season, including American’s top international destinations and accommodation preferences. The United Kingdom, France and Italy top the list for travel between June and August of this year, with the Caribbean and the Netherlands rounding out the top five. A survey of more than 230 U.S. travelers who either researched or purchased travel insurance within the past 18 months shows 82 percent are planning a summer vacation this year, and roughly two-thirds (67 percent) plan to fly to their destination. As for preferred means of accommodation, hotels ranked No. 1 for choice, with 42 percent of respondents in agreement, followed by cruise ships (25 percent) and vacation rentals (18 percent).
