Like our new look? It’s subtle, a tweak here and a tweak there incorporated to personalize your experience with notes shared by our world-traveled writers and columnists. We’re also bringing back our popular chef profiles, this time with a focus on the chef’s professional experience and personal likes, dislikes, favorite dishes and go-to ingredients. Plus, we’re debuting a new column: Airport Update will keep you informed about new developments at airports around the world and share insider information about the best shopping, lounging, viewing and even touring options available to travelers. Another new feature, Hotel Update, profiles a different hotel brand in select issues. This month: Hilton Hotels Worldwide.
Speaking of airports, have you ever considered rerouting your travel to incorporate a stopover at a favorite destination or to maximize your mileage earnings? If so, our article about alternate airlines and airports will be of interest. And in the “time-flies-when-you’re-having-fun” category, we celebrate our 150th issue with a look back at highlights, favorite articles and the travel industry then and now.
We round out the issue with coverage of the meetings and incentives landscape in Sydney, tips on doing business in Paris and suggestions for adding on a bit of fun in the sun on Portugal’s Algarve coast. Plus, we check out the nightlife in Frankfurt; tour San Francisco with family in tow; cruise Alaska; kick back in Aruba; check out the business and investment climate in Lima and, on the homefront, Hilton Head Island; and explore Rome’s upscale Parioli neighborhood.
Let’s get started.

Sep 18, 2026Choose Your Own Island Vibe in French Polynesia
“We are on small, tiny rocks, isolated in the middle of the largest ocean.” On a nature tour on the atoll of Tetiaroa, my naturalist guide, Thierry Sommers, thus reminded me of the oceanic remoteness of our location in the South Pacific. I was staying at The Brando, a luxurious private island resort that sits a mere 30-minute flight from the main island of Tahiti but still feels gloriously far away from regular civilization.
