Once United successfully muscled through its merger with Continental, the airline focused on and greatly improved both its customer service and on-time performance. To celebrate the merger’s completion and its improvements, United launched a new advertising campaign and its old “Fly the Friendly Skies” slogan. “Friendly” means improved customer service, being part of a larger network, an award-winning frequent-flyer loyalty program (United MileagePlus), improvement in its first, business and premium-economy classes, and of course, the purchase of the groundbreaking Boeing 787 Dreamliner.
All of these factors come together to make United a friendlier airline for those who travel the most. Global Traveler readers have responded, and I invite you to read our December issue, in which we release all the winners from our annual GT Tested Reader Survey awards. This year will be our 10-year anniversary of the awards, and several travel companies are winners of GT‘s 10-Year Hall of Fame awards, reserved for those who have won their category every year for the last decade!
