One day shy of its 100th day in operation the PHX Sky Train at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport celebrated a major milestone today as it carried its millionth passenger.
Airport staff and volunteer navigators cheered and applauded as the train carrying the millionth passenger arrived at the Terminal 4 PHX Sky Train Station. Passengers on the train received commemorative T-shirts and PHX Sky Train memorabilia.
Opened on April 8, The PHX Sky Train connects the 44th Street Station to the METRO light rail, East Economy parking and Terminal 4, which serves 80 percent of Sky Harbor’s passenger traffic. The Sky Train operates seven days a week, 365 days a year, and is free of charge.
By early 2015, the PHX Sky Train will extend to Terminal 3 with a walkway to Terminal 2. In its final stage of construction, the PHX Sky Train will continue to the Rental Car Center.
