The streets may not actually be paved with chocolate, but Switzerland remains a sweet lover’s dream destination. Still, some of the best spots for finding chocolate bliss aren’t listed in guidebooks. That’s where the expertise of travel and food writer Kerrin Rousset comes in. Sharing her passion for all things confection-related, and her unique insider’s knowledge of Zurich and Geneva, Rousset’s boutique tour company MyKugelhopf offers backstreet tours of each city’s best-kept culinary secrets.

While she’s guiding fellow connoisseurs down charming side streets, Rousset also provides guests with fun facts and local folklore. Tours include stops in shops where guests get a glimpse into chocolate making, meet chocolate artisans and shopkeepers and, of course, stock up on pralines, truffles, meringues and all things chocolate.

Tours run two to two-and-a-half hours. Reservations are required, and tours — small group, private, or customized — are available in both English and French. Rousset, who was instrumental in the launch of the Salon du Chocolat in Zurich, is also happy to share her expertise about the finer points of chocolate selection and consumption, but remains exempt from complaints about over-the-limit luggage.
