Arrival/Check-in: Two girlfriends and I escaped to Palm Beach for the weekend. After an early-morning flight, we arrived at Palm Beach International Airport (PBI) ready to relax. The hotel had arranged for a car service to pick us up, and the driver was waiting for us in baggage claim. Within minutes, we were in the car and on our way. The trip was quick and full of conversation as the driver filled us in on the area and answered our questions. Once we pulled up to the Brazilian Court, friendly bell staff greeted us. I have to note the exceptional staff at the property. They were always personable and willing to help. After a quick check-in, we were escorted to our room. (29/30)
Guest Quarters: Our suite was gorgeous. Double doors opened into a hallway. To the right was the living room, with comfortable sofas, a TV, dining room table, desk and wet bar. Off the living room was one bedroom, with a huge bed, walk-in closet, plush chair and large bathroom. The bathroom had a tub and stall shower, two sinks, ample counter space and Frederic Fekkai amenities. Also off the living room was a powder room. To the left of the entrance was a second bedroom, similar to the first but with a second wet bar and a smaller bathroom. The suite was richly decorated and, while the décor didn’t scream “beach,” it was warm and enveloping. Privately owned by a husband and wife, the hotel was personally decorated by the wife, down to the very last detail. Most of the pieces, shipped from around the world, are of the finest quality. A fire drill was the only thing that disturbed our revelry. A technical glitch caused it to go off twice. (28/30)
Services/Amenities: We spent one day relaxing by the hotel pool, where food and drink service are available, and we worked on our tans while sipping caipirinhas. The inner courtyard is perfect for relaxing and talking. Café Boulud is one of Chef Daniel Boulud’s many restaurants. We enjoyed both dinner and brunch there and had no complaints. Frederic Fekkai operates the on-site spa and hair salon. We also took advantage of the beach Jeep, which transported us to the beach and provided chairs, suntan lotion, bottled water, towels and magazines, free of charge. (40/40)
The Experience: We were looking for relaxation, and we found it. Mere steps from shopping and dining, the Brazilian Court is truly a luxurious hideaway.
Total Score: 97/100
