Arrival/Check-in: The Fairmont’s fairly new Battery Wharf property is nestled in its own quiet enclave extending into Boston’s peaceful Battery Wharf. I arrived early in the morning and felt as though I were checking into my own personal property. As the Fairmont is comprised of four buildings, the property is situated on its own small, cobblestone street. Check-in was fast and easy, and the concierge was extremely helpful in recommending the best seafood restaurants within walking distance of the hotel. (29/30)

Guest Quarters: Very spacious and tranquil, my suite made the most of its waterfront view. The room came equipped with a king-sized bed, 42-inch HD TV, a desk, an iPod dock, a coffee and espresso maker and a marble bath. My accommodations were perfect for a short and sweet business trip. (29/30)

Service/Amenities: The hotel service was above average. The front desk staff went beyond my expectations in assisting me with travel arrangements for business and leisure. Instead of a regular taxi to the airport, the concierge arranged for a water taxi to take me across the harbor, where a shuttle was waiting to drive me to the airport. A water taxi is a most pleasant and affordable experience (the taxi is only $10 and the shuttle is free) and is truly the best option for arriving to or departing from the property. During my stay, I checked out the hotel’s top-notch gym, sampled the delicious options in the hotel restaurant and walked along the harborside path. I also visited the Fairmont Gold floors, where guests can personalize their room arrangements, creating a seamless experience from check-in to departure. The designated lounge had an intimate, living room feel with newspapers to read, a patio and an open kitchen serving complimentary breakfast and evening cocktails. The hotel will debut its new spa, Exhale, in January 2011, featuring 10 spa therapy rooms, two studios for yoga and core classes, a relaxing lounge, changing rooms and a well-equipped gym. (39/40)

The Experience: I would not hesitate to recommend this property to friends or family traveling to Boston for business or pleasure. Its prime location makes an easy walk to business meetings, dining, shopping and entertainment. The service was prompt and friendly, resulting in a pleasant, unforgettable stay.
