Tauck recently announced the names and artist renderings of its two new ships that will join its fleet of riverboats next year. The new vessels will be named m/s Serene, for the River Seine in France, and m/s Lumière, also sailing in France on the Rhône.

Tauck solicited more than 1,000 name suggestions from travel advisors, guests and employees; according to CEO Jennifer Tombaugh, “The name Serene is perfect for our new ship on the Seine, bringing to mind tranquility and rejuvenation. The River Seine itself is a gently flowing, meandering river that evokes a spirit of calm and escape that was captured beautifully in paintings of the waterway by the region’s Impressionist artists including Monet and Renoir.”
Meanwhile, Lumière on the Rhône, a livelier river, is “akin to a spark of inspiration.”

New renderings of the ships were also released, with images showing the exterior, Sun Deck, wellness area and a Category 5 suite. In addition to these suites, Serene will offer 30 225-square-foot cabins, mainly on the middle Ruby Deck, and 12 Category 1 cabins on the lower Emerald Deck for a total capacity of 124 guests. Lumière offers just slightly more space with a total capacity for 130 guests.
Serene will also sail a new itinerary, the 11-day Bordeaux, Paris & The Seine. Tauck celebrates its 100th anniversary in 2025.
