When you live in the northeastern United States, you are all too familiar with the uncharacteristically warm fall day. While these come few and far between, they are some of my favorites, as you get to enjoy what feels like a last glimpse of summer before a cold winter.

Over Halloween weekend, Philadelphia saw an 80-degree, sunny fall day. My friends and I took advantage of the warmth and headed to Frankford Hall, a German-style beer garden. This was perfect as the lingering Oktoberfest vibe was still in the air, and we sat outdoors to enjoy the day.

The night before, my roommate and I threw a Halloween party, so we all gathered to reminisce on the costumes and fun over some sausages and beer. I had the bratwurst, while my friend got the frankfurter and potato pancakes. All of the drinks available are German: I had the Spaten Lager, while my friend got the Schöfferhofer, a grapefruit wheat beer.

While the cold weather has made its return, it was nice to spend a final fall afternoon at the end of October with friends outdoors enjoying good drinks and food.
