I indulged in a massage at the newly renovated spa on the last day of my stay at Anantara New York Palace Budapest Hotel.

The spa’s new and stunning design transports you, with its dimly lit, cave-like hallways and décor in muted tones. I arrived early so I could spend some time in the relaxation area prior to my appointment. I filled out the requisite forms and the front desk attendant directed me to the relaxation area where I enjoyed a cup of herbal tea.

As I finished my tea, my therapist came over to bring me to the treatment room. She showed me where I could leave my robe and glasses, then left so I could get situated on the massage table.

She began the massage focusing on my legs, working on tension in my feet and calves in particular. Moving to my back and arms, she used stretching and movement techniques I had not experienced in other massages. My therapist used stronger pressure than I’m used to for massages. However, I felt the benefits of these motions and pressure for days to come.

The more than 1,600-square-foot facility boasts five massage rooms, including a couple’s treatment room with private Jacuzzi and a Thai massage room. Each of the rooms features a private shower for enhanced privacy. There is a newly installed Finnish sauna, accommodating up to six people at a time. Before or after your appointment, spend time in the relaxation area, which offers a tea lounge and a hammock corner with three hanging chairs.

There are a variety of unique massage, body and facial treatments available, including a Hungarian mud therapy experience and a beer scrub.

I recommend beginning or ending your stay at Anantara New York Palace Budapest Hotel with a visit to the spa to start or end your trip on a high note.
