There are over a dozen subscription services out there that will bring the world to your home. I recently tried out Sakuraco, and I have to tell you it is quite trip. Every month each box takes you through a different region of Japan. Each box contains several goodies representing the region of the month alongside a booklet telling about each of the items contained in your box.

The December box took us through the Tochigi prefecture. It’s a nature lover’s paradise, quite mountainous and with many waterfalls. The Nasu region offers visitors some of the best natural hot springs to rejuvenate.

• Aged sencha

You must be wondering what was each like? Each was so different and so unique. My favorite items were the black sesame mochi, uni rice cracker, chestnut manju and, last but not least, that aged sencha. I do not consider myself a tea connoisseur, but that was one fine tea.

I absolutely loved this experience; it felt like a small trip to Japan and makes me yearn for my trip to Japan that much more.
