Cabot Highlands
This summer, Cabot announced its acquirement of Castle Stuart Golf Links and its accompanying resort amenities near Inverness, Scotland. Cabot rebranded the property Cabot Highlands. Situated in the Scottish Highlands, the resort includes world-class golf, and boutique and luxury accommodations at Golf Lodge, Farm House and Castle Cottage. Visitors can also find accommodations at nearby hotels and B&Bs. Castle Stuart Golf Links was recently named the fourth best course in Britain and Ireland by Golfweek.
Cabot Highlands includes an Art Deco-inspired clubhouse, practice facility, putting green and a new short course. The course features holes framed by the water’s edge on one side and bluffs on the other, with rumpled fairway contours and infinity-edged greens that seem perched on cliffs directly over the sea. A second course, designed by golf course architect Tom Doak, will be completed in 2024. The nearby city of Inverness lies 10 minutes away and offers opportunities to experience the vibrant Scottish culture through Victorian-era marketplaces, cathedrals, museums and restaurants.
Cabot Cape Breton
Celebrating its 10th anniversary this season, Cabot Cape Breton is known as a bucket list destination thanks to its dramatic setting atop majestic cliffs in Nova Scotia, overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. The resort includes a 72-room lodge with ocean views from every room, three exquisite restaurants featuring fresh seafood and endless opportunities for hiking, biking, kayaking and heli fly-fishing. The Nest is a new par-3, 10-hole short course perched atop the highest point of Cabot Cliffs. Summer room rates start at $382 per night.

Grand Solmar at Rancho San Lucas
The Greg Norman Signature Course at Grand Solmar at Rancho San Lucas, on the tip of Mexico’s Baja Peninsula, spans three different ecosystems and features ocean views at every hole along with a signature island green. The golf course is just 15 minutes from downtown Cabo San Lucas and set in rolling desert foothills that lead to 1.2 miles of pristine beachfront on the Pacific Ocean. The resort boasts ocean views from every suite and standout amenities include multiple restaurants, a luxury seaside spa with private beachfront cabanas, infinity pools, a saltwater lagoon winding through the property and new pickleball courts. Summer rates start at $398 per night.
Villa del Palmar at the Islands of Loreto
Villa del Palmar at the Islands of Loreto is also on Baja Peninsula, about 300 miles north of Rancho San Lucas, on the eastern coast of the peninsula. The area is a rising destination for relaxation, culture and ecotourism, but Villa del Palmar is still a largely undiscovered, peaceful retreat, best known for its secluded, unspoiled setting in Loreto Bay National Marine Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The resort offers four restaurants, five pools, the 39,000-square-foot Sabila Spa and the exceptional 18-hole TPC Danzante Bay Golf Course. The only TPC course in Mexico, this course offers a truly unique golf experience. All-inclusive summer rates start from $354 per night.

May 28, 2025Williamsburg Inn Review
You don’t have to love brass chandeliers or brocade to appreciate what Williamsburg Inn does best: delivering a polished, unpretentious stay amid America’s most iconic living history museum. This is where you check in for traditional luxury without feeling like you’re trapped in a time capsule. The Queen stayed here (twice), and so did Eisenhower, but you’re not here to make history. You’re here to enjoy it, on your own terms.

May 27, 2025Plan a Legendary Gathering in Honolulu
Myths and origin stories form a powerful framework for the history of Hawai‘i. Marking the horizon behind Honolulu, the ancient volcanic formation of Lē‘ahi — technically a volcanic tuff cone more commonly known to the world as Diamond Head — provides a constant physical reminder of the tales that shaped the history of this location. While researching legends for my Hawai‘i-based Dark Paradise Mysteries series (Kensington Books), I learned the tale of the demigod Maui, who used his enchanted fishing hook to reach into the sea to heave the Hawaiian islands, including Diamond Head, above the surface of the water.
