There’s almost nothing like the magic of New York City during the holidays — and there’s almost nothing more quintessentially New York than the Empire State Building. Check both off your list at once this year in the Big Apple.

Head high above the city with tickets to the world-famous 86th– and 102nd-floor observatories of the Empire State Building and take in the iconic views with holiday lights below.

A photo-op at the Empire State Building is a must for families, and this holiday season, Nov. 30–Dec. 4, travelers and guests can use the world-famous and architecturally stunning skyscraper as the backdrop for their holiday cards and keepsakes.

Visitors purchasing a premium ticket for the 102nd-floor Observatory can choose a time slot for professional photos on the Grand Staircase. Purchase tickets here and check family photo off your holiday to-do list.

“We are thrilled to be reopened and a part of New Yorkers’ holiday plans this year — there is no better time to visit the world-famous Empire State Building. With our $165 million reimagined Observatory Experience and new safety protocols which includes reduced capacity and timed ticketing, guests are welcome to experience the joy of the holiday season from the heart of New York City,” said Jean-Yves Ghazi, president, The Observatory.

Keep warm under the heat lamps with a 360-degree view of the city. Check the light schedule this holiday season, including Chanukah, Christmas and New Year’s Eve, here and find the best time for your crew to head to the big city.

Review: Sushi by Scratch at Grand Hyatt Deer Valley

Husband-and-wife team Phillip Frankland Lee and Margarita Kallas-Lee made their mark by reinventing the term “hidden gem” through their surprising and intentional collection of destination restaurants. While they launched the original Scratch Kitchen in 2013, an expired lease prompted them to relocate to an unassuming strip mall in suburban Encino in 2015 and rename it Scratch Bar & Kitchen. Even at a time when the San Fernando Valley was not known for innovative 5-star dining, the Lees’ concepts gathered such a strong buzz that discerning diners cheerfully followed them “over the hill.”

Japan is a destination that rewards repeat visits because no two regions — or seasons —  feel quite the same. One moment, you’re wandering through centuries-old geisha districts in Kanazawa. The next, you’re watching neon reflections dance across Tokyo streets long after midnight.
