Panama reopens its borders to international visitors from all countries Oct. 12. Strategic health and safety protocols keep visitors and local communities healthy and safe.
All incoming travelers, including Panamanians, must present a negative COVID-19 PCR or antigen test upon arrival. If the presented test is more than 48 hours old, a rapid test must be taken at the airport for $30. Travelers must sign an electronic affidavit and comply with all sanitary control measures.
Face masks are required at all times at Tocumen International Airport; additional airport measures include temperature screenings and physical distancing. Additionally, face masks are required in all public spaces in Panama. Visitors find an increased presence of hand sanitizing stations, electronic payment options, digital menus and more. Restaurants, tours, ground transportation and event spaces operate with restrictions.
“After closing our borders to travelers in late March, we are excited to safely welcome visitors back to Panama,” said Minister Eskildsen. “The new health and safety protocols reflect our continuous hard work and dedication in protecting both Panamanians and our visitors, and through our efforts, have earned the World Travel & Tourism Council Safe Travels stamp of approval. Our beautiful country, rich in nature, biodiversity and cultural heritage is once again ready to be discovered.”
