Melbourne Airport added a slew of new restaurants, cafés and even brewery. The new dining options cover cuisines like modern Australian, Mediterranean and Asian food as part of its hospitality overhaul, including Pickett’s Deli and Rotisserie, Shane Delia’s Middle Ground and Cobb Lane, between Terminals 2 and 3.
Pickett’s Deli and Rotisserie uses Victorian produce and serves its signature chicken roll with gravy. Middle Ground, owned by TV personality Shane Delia, will have Middle Eastern fare. Cobb Lane focuses on pastries. In addition, other new venues open include Hawker Bar, Axil Coffee Roasters, Proud Mary and Grill’d.
There’s more to come: EARL Canteen will open in mid-2020, and Australia’s first airport brewery, run by Stomping Ground Brewery Co, will open in February. The brewery will make a wide variety of craft beer, plus serve food from the company’s Collingwood menu.
Melbourne Airport’s acting chief of retail Rosemary Earner said the airport’s new dining options reflect the city’s foodie culture: “We carefully selected a broad range of local hospitality venues and brands that showcase the city’s diverse culinary offering for the millions of travelers that fly through Melbourne Airport each year. Travelers can now grab Scott Pickett’s signature bacon and egg roll, a salad from Middle Ground, or yum cha from Hawker Bar — there’s plenty of choice.”
