The past few weeks I’ve been taking advantage of local fall festivals in and around my neighborhood. Up first was Porchfest in Collingswood, New Jersey. Held on a Saturday in September, residents host bands and musicians for performances on their porches. The event kicks off in the afternoon and runs through the evening. This was our first time experiencing the event, and it was fun to walk around our neighborhood, stopping to listen to live music along the way. Some people offered food and beverages to enjoy while listening to the performances. We had a blast and are already looking forward to next year.
The following weekend we made our way to Haddon Heights, New Jersey, for a wine and beer festival, Sippin’ on Station. The event boasted dozens of local breweries, wineries, artisans, food trucks and other local vendors. We bought some drink tickets and walked up and down the street with our friends sampling beers from new and favorite breweries.
The first Saturday in October was the Collingswood Book Festival. This year marked the 17th year of the festival. The event featured author signings and readings, poetry readings and new and used books for sale. Finally, on Sunday, we did some shopping at the Occasionette warehouse sale and nearby Clover Market. I really enjoy supporting local businesses and events, and a little retail therapy is a nice bonus.
