Westin Hotels & Resorts unveiled a new culinary program worldwide. The program focuses on helping travelers fuel workouts, productivity and sleep — all through the power of nutrition. The new program extends to Westin properties’ breakfast, lunch and dinner offerings, down to the individual ingredients and where they’re sourced.
“We know that travel is stressful, and that it is increasingly difficult for travelers to maintain their wellness routines while on the road. Sticking with an exercise routine, prioritizing a good night’s sleep, and focusing on nutrition helps us feel better, be more productive and allows us to be more present during our travels,” said Brian Povinelli, global brand leader, Westin. “Our new sourcing promise and commitment to regionally-relevant menus and personal dietary needs make it easy for travelers to maintain their personal eating habits while also getting a taste of their destination, all without leaving the hotel.”
The initiative lines up well with Westin’s running concierge program. The brand offers more than 225 Run Concierges around the world, where individuals host group runs and help guests explore their destination while working out. Now, runners staying at the property can fuel up before and after their run with locally inspired food and beverage options that complement their exercise routine.
“After your run is completed, the work isn’t over just yet. What you eat after your run truly makes a difference. By eating the right food at the right time, you are helping maintain your overall fitness, aiding your body in recovery and reducing your chance of injury,” commented Dan Churchill, celebrity chef and wellness expert.
Churchill created a special ancient grain power bowl for Westin, which includes quinoa, amaranth and coconut milk with house-made peanut butter and strawberry chia seed jam. The specialty menu item was available for a limited time at select properties.

It was known as the “Kai Tak heart attack” — the thrilling, terrifying final approach into Hong Kong’s Kai Tak Airport. Airliners were required to bank sharply at the last moment, dodging hills and apartment blocks to line up with a runway jutting out into Kowloon Bay. The airport is long gone, but international visitors are arriving at Kai Tak again, albeit more sedately. Their cruise ships dock smoothly at Kai Tak Cruise Terminal, a modern gateway designed by Sir Norman Foster.
