There’s no specific season to visit Charleston, South Carolina; this charming, historic town offers something year-round, and with top-notch restaurants and boutique hotels, you’ll leave wondering why you didn’t visit sooner.
The city’s newest luxury boutique hotel lies in the heart of the historic French Quarter. With just 45 rooms, the hotel embodies a deeply authentic Charleston experience. Every guestroom includes Bamford toiletries, custom-embroidered spa bathrobes, a Nespresso machine, minibar, free WiFi, nightly turndown service and more. The on-site lobby bar is also the perfect spot for a cocktail or snack.
Inspired by owners Jonathan and Patrick Kish’s great-grandmother Florence, Florence’s Lowcountry Kitchen serves mouthwatering dishes emblematic of the South, including grit bowls, fried seafood, fried green tomatoes and She Crab soup. The restaurant also serves fantastic Saturday and Sunday brunch.
The only Pakistani restaurant in South Carolina, this newly opened restaurant by Maryam Ghaznavi brings a vibrancy to Charleston like none other. Authentic food and a unique cocktail program are all part of the fun here, with an interior that transports guests to the interiors of traditional Pakistani homes and restaurants. Highlights include samosas, Bihari Kabab with beef ribeye and butter chicken.
From the same owners as Ma’am Saab, Malika brings canteen-style Pakistani street food to the Mount Pleasant area of Charleston. Don’t miss favorites like chicken Biryani, Aloo Tiki Roll and Masala fries.
This brother-run pub, named after the owner’s grandfather and built in a 300-year-old warehouse in the city’s historic district, is the perfect neighborhood hangout spot. Complete with rich comfort food, local brews and craft cocktails, this cozy spot is a gem within Charleston.
A staple in the city for more than 40 years, 82 Queen is a pioneer in refined Lowcountry cuisine. Favorites include the award-winning BBQ shrimp and grits and She Crab Soup. Dine within one of the restaurant’s seven historic dining rooms or the courtyard.
Want the best of both worlds? Combine shopping and dining at Mount Pleasant Towne Centre, the city’s premiere lifestyle center with more than 65 stores and restaurants across 500 square feet. The center also includes Regal Palmetto Grande movie theater, a Hyatt Place hotel and a greenspace.

Hyatt Regency Coconut Point Resort & Spa is an award-winning resort on Coconut Road in Bonita Springs, Florida, on the Gulf Coast between Naples and Fort Myers. The property, with 26 acres of tropical landscaping, multiple water slides and numerous dining venues, is a beautiful resort. Last month, I brought my 13-year-old grandson to the property for two days of water-sliding in balmy mid-December weather.

Chef Christophe Hay had already achieved an enviable culinary reputation before he transformed the former 17th-century riverfront hospice in Blois to an extraordinary first-floor namesake restaurant; it’s the centerpiece around which he built Fleur de Loire, his 44-room, 12-suite Relais & Châteaux affiliate.
