ToursbyLocals, the private tour marketplace connecting travelers with certified local guides for customizable tour experiences, conducted a proprietary travel survey to determine travel trends for 2023. The company features more than 4,400 guides in almost 200 countries, allowing a comprehensive study to reveal what’s in store for next year.
ToursbyLocals discovered that nearly half of all tours booked so far in 2023 are shore excursions. Compared to the average 20 percent, this is much higher than previous years. The report also found a quarter of all tours booked for 2023 have been customized, exhibiting travelers’ continuing prioritization on personalization.
European destinations continue to top the charts as the most popular destinations booked, with Italy, France, the United Kingdom and Spain ranking as the top countries in the continent. That aid, demand for South American destinations is on the rise, with Argentina and Chile climbing to the top. The report also noticed Australia and New Zealand slowly returning in popularity.
Next year also sees 95 percent of tours booked for 2023 occurring in international destinations, showing travelers’ comfort and confidence in planning overseas trips that many postponed because of the pandemic.
