Zipcar, Inc., a leading car-sharing network, is expanding its airport access to Logan International Airport (BOS).
The addition of Logan International Airport comes on the heels of Zipcar’s recent launch at London Heathrow Airport (LHR). Zipcar members, known as Zipsters, have global access to more than 10,000 vehicles at airport and city outlets in the Unites States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Spain and Austria.
“What better way to open our new rental car center than to welcome Zipcar, which started 13 years ago in Massachusetts,” said Ed Freni, director of aviation, Massport.
Five Zipcars — including a Mazda 3, a Ford Escape and a Honda Civic — are located in Zipcar-branded parking spaces adjacent to the Avis Car Rental pick-up facility at the airport. Zipsters can pick up a car and hit the road immediately after exiting the airport terminal without any paperwork, lines or extra fees.
Zipcar members age 21 and older may reserve Zipcars at airport locations. Reservations include gas, insurance and 180 miles per day. The cost to reserve a Zipcar vehicle at Logan International Airport starts at $10 per hour or $75 per day. Requirements include pick-up and return at the same location.
