Last week W Washington DC announced the completion of a $50 million redesign. The hotel, opened 10 years ago, now boasts an attractive new lobby, all-new guestrooms and reimagined dining and drinking spaces.
The remodel increased the number of guestrooms to 326, including 31 suites. Now, guestroom hallways feature neon art and playful politics-inspired designs. Open room layouts offer spacious bathrooms with marble vanities, modular seating and more politics and history themes throughout. The Extreme WOW Suite, the brand’s version of a presidential suite, features a floor-to-ceiling mural, mirrored ceilings and 1.5 bathrooms.
Refurbishments included making POV, the rooftop bar with views of the White House, a year-round destination with retractable glass windows. Craft cocktails are accompanied by an ocean-to-table menu. Two new culinary concepts include Cherry, with its open-fire kitchen and from-scratch cooking, and Corner Office, for a huge beer selection and wood-fired pizzas.
“From two brand-new restaurants offering distinct culinary experiences to reimagined, design-led suites and new event spaces, the transformation boldly captures what W stands for,” said Meade Atkeson, general manager, W Washington DC. “As W Washington DC continues to turn the traditional luxury experience in DC on its head, we are thrilled to welcome guests back to take in all that we have to offer.”
“It’s been a decade since W Washington DC opened its doors and forever transformed the nation’s capital with a bold and dynamic energy that has been embraced by the city’s power players and visitors alike,” said Anthony Ingham, global brand leader, W Hotels. “This complete reimagining further cements the hotel as the ultimate can’t-miss destination in the heart of the city and it also marks an important and exciting milestone in our substantial renovation strategy currently underway at many of our W properties in North America.”
