Viking Ocean Cruises will be bringing a handful of new itineraries to the Caribbean and North America in the latter half of 2016. The new itineraries have been inspired by early trade routes around the continent, highlighting stops at ancient Norse settlements.

“We launched our ocean cruises in Europe earlier this year and just as the Viking explorers before us, we are now looking across the Atlantic for new discoveries,” said Torstein Hagen, founder and chairman, Viking Cruises. “Our new itineraries in North America and the Caribbean will offer travelers experiences that broaden their horizons both on and off the ship.”

The inaugural, newest itinerary, setting sail Sept. 18, is the In The Wake of the Vikings experience, which begins in Norway. The cruise follows Viking paths through Scottish isles, Iceland, Greenland, Newfoundland and Quebec before finally landing in Montreal.

The Eastern Seaboard Explorer itinerary is a 13-day experience that carries travelers from Montreal to New York starting in October. Stops include Quebec City, Saguenay, Prince Edward Island, Halifax and Boston. The itinerary will only be available once per year and takes full advantage of the brilliant New England fall foliage.

Also in October 2016, Viking will offer the Eastern Seaboard to the West Indies itinerary, which will begin in New York and arrive in San Juan 15 days later. Stops are filled with historic spots and beautiful scenery, including New York City, Baltimore, Port Everglades, Turks and Caicos, Antigua and St. Thomas.
