Trying to fall asleep while sitting upright on flights across the country is a chore, especially on red-eye flights between coastal cities like Los Angeles and New York.
With the advent of United Airlines’ new Boeing jets (scheduled to debut in 2020), more passengers on these cross-country flights will have the opportunity to fully recline and enjoy a peaceful night of sleep while flying over the States.
Lie-flat seats exist on a handful of United flights that travel from one side of the country to the other, but only on single-aisle planes and for only for a small number of passengers. By increasing the number of fully reclining seats available on cross-country flights, United offers more passengers the perk of paying a little extra for enhanced comfort.
United is currently testing this new class of lie-flat seats on its Boeing 737 Max 10 jets, with the goal to replace United’s fleet of 757 aircraft by 2020.
