United Airlines expands its scheduled service in New York (EWR) and Washington, D.C. (IAD). The changes begin in October, with new destinations, additional frequencies and larger two-cabin aircraft. New destinations provide increased non-stop flights to destinations popular with EWR passengers, while moving connecting flights on short-haul routes from Newark to Washington-Dulles. Connecting flights headed to or from Chattanooga (CHA); Ithaca (ITH); and Scranton (AVP) will connect through Washington-Dulles rather than Newark.
Starting Oct. 4, United offers increased non-stop service between Newark and 15 domestic destinations including Burlington (BTV); Charleston (CHS); Ft. Lauderdale (FLL); Fort Myers (RSW); Greensboro (GSO); Memphis (MEM); Nashville (BNA); New Orleans (MSY); Norfolk (ORF); Orlando (MCO); Phoenix (PHX); Pittsburgh (PIT); San Antonio (SAT); Sarasota (SRQ); and West Palm Beach (PBI).
New non-stop seasonal mainline service between Newark and Palm Springs (PSP) begins Dec. 19. Increased regional jet service between Newark and Key West (EYW) begins Oct. 4.
“We approached these schedule adjustments with our customers in mind, knowing that we wanted to create a schedule that offers customers beginning their travel in the New York City area convenient flights to many of the business and leisure destinations they frequent the most,” said Ankit Gupta, vice president of domestic network, United. “Since more of our customers begin their travel from New York/Newark than any other United hub city, we’ve created a more customer friendly schedule that removed connection times and provided convenient nonstop service to multiple U.S. destinations.”
