If you’ve traveled recently, you probably know all too well the recent development of massive lines at airport security. An understaffed Transportation Security Administration, an increase in travelers and heightened security measures all contributed to much higher than normal traffic. Mercifully, TSA released a plan to reduce wait times — and hopefully headaches. Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson said at a press conference last month TSA will be aggressive in its attempts to reduce wait times, which have risen to nearly two hours in some airports. TSA’s 10-point plan includes hiring more TSA agents, paying more overtime and even reducing the size and number of carry-on luggage allowed. Wait times will persist, though, Johnson said. “”Our task is not only to keep passengers moving but to also, and most importantly, keep passengers safe,” he said. “In this, we cannot and we will not compromise the security of aviation or the American people. Recent events across the world confirm the continued need for vigilance when it comes to aviation security. In this environment, we will not compromise aviation security on behalf of the people we serve.” The complete 10-point plan is available via the DHS.
