According to a new report from Wyndham, business travelers embrace business trips this summer, partially because they sneak in some bleisure travel without telling their bosses or coworkers. The report says 64 percent of business travelers extend their trips for leisure without telling their coworkers, boss or even partner.

More than half of business travelers prefer bleisure travel in the summer and indulge in bleisure travel for the chance to explore a new destination. On average, bleisure travelers take three days of personal time at the end of a business trip. One-third of business travelers skipped a meeting or work event while on a business trip to nap or relax; nearly three-fourths skipped a meeting or work event while on a business trip for another reason.

“Summer business trips can be the perfect opportunity to create new travel experiences by squeezing a little leisure time into the schedule,” said Lisa Checchio, chief marketing officer, Wyndham Hotels & Resorts.

The report additionally found 65 percent of business travelers would rather wear a swimsuit in front of their colleagues than work in a conference room with no air conditioning and that the majority of business travelers would rather dress stylishly than dress for the summer heat while on a trip.

Business travelers with children are also likely to extend a business trip by one to two days to enjoy a little private “me” time away from the family. Three-fourths of business travelers miss their children’s school activities frequently. However, 69 percent still check in with their school-age kids to ensure they complete their homework. Thirty percent of business travelers with both kids and pets say they’d rather travel with the pets than the kids.
