Air travel analytics company OAG released a list of the airlines with the best on-time record. The biannual list, On-Time Performance Star Ratings, ranked 125 airlines’ arrival times between June 2018 and May 2019.
The study considered on-time arrivals to include those landing within 15 minutes of the scheduled arrival time. Airlines were ranked on a 5-star system with a percentage (out of 100).
The highest-scoring international airport was Garuda Indonesia, the country’s national airline, with on-time arrivals reported 91.6 percent of the time. In second place was Fuji Dream Airlines, followed by Copa Airlines (Panama) and Qatar Airways.
At the top for airlines based in the United States was Hawaiian Airlines, with an on-time percentage of 87.8 percent, which awarded the airline with a 5-star ranking.
Among other U.S. airlines, Delta Air Lines came in second place with 83.4 percent (four stars) followed by Alaska Airlines (80.7 percent, four stars), Spirit Airlines (80.4 percent, four stars), Cape Air (79.9 percent, three stars and a big jump from the previous report which listed it at 11th place), Southwest Airlines (78.3 percent, three stars) and Allegiant Air (78.0 percent, three stars).
