A couple of my friends and I decided to rent a house in the Camelback Mountain area of Pennsylvania’s Pocono Mountains for New Year’s Eve. To find the perfect place, we used Vrbo.com; there were a bunch of properties to choose from, but, in the end, we decided to rent a place in The Village at Camelback.
Half of us arrived Wednesday afternoon, just in time for 4 p.m. check-in. We had to go to the office outside of the property to check-in and get all the information, as well as parking passes. We couldn’t get in the house right away because there was some confusion from the host about our check-in date, so we had to sit in the office parking lot as we went back and forth with the owner to get the code for the house. After about two hours of waiting, we were finally able to get in. The next day the rest of our group came and they had to check in with the office as well. We didn’t like the check-in process; it could have been simplified if just one person from the group could handle check-in.
The housing complex was huge; ours was in the lower section, in great proximity to the mountain. Our townhome had three bedrooms and two bathrooms — one room with two queen beds — and was the perfect size for our group. The house had a full kitchen with appliances, dishes, silverware, utensils and more. It also had a washer and dryer, free WiFi, a fireplace, TV with cable and a bunch of board and card games. The complex offered a community pool and hot tub, but they were closed due to COVID-19.
The complex is located next to Camelback Mountain and we were lucky to have a unit directly next to it, so the skiers and snowboarders in our group were able to put all their gear on at the house and walk right on the slopes. When the slopes got too crowded or they needed a break, they easily came back to the house to relax.
We were also within walking distance of Camelback Mountain Resort, where we could have splashed around at Aquatopia Indoor Waterpark, but it was closed due to the pandemic. One day, we walked to the resort for lunch and a drink at one of the restaurants with outdoor space and seating.
If we wanted to do a little shopping, the Tannersville Premium Outlets were about five minutes down the road.
The Village at Camelback is the perfect stay for families who love skiing and snowboarding; you won’t have to worry about packing everyone’s gear into the car, making it easier for all.

May 30, 2025By-the-cabin Yachting Redefines the Cruise Experience
I wish this day could last forever!” my windswept 9-year-old exclaimed, his voice soaring over the Mediterranean. He gripped the helm of a Bali 4.6 sailing catamaran off the coast of Marseille, his sun- bleached hair whipping in the salty breeze. The scent of the sea mingled with the aroma of warm baguettes drifting from the Côte d’Azur shoreline. Our captain, a seasoned sailor, subtly adjusted course, letting my son feel the exhilarating pull of the wind against the sails. As the waves lapped against the hull, I realized this was no ordinary vacation — this was freedom, unfiltered.
