A new trend is sweeping the nightlife scene as more people opt to stay in, relax and experience something new and exciting instead of hitting the town and going out. More resorts and hotels create special night experiences designed for travelers to unwind and enjoy a night in.

Korakia Pensione

In the heart of Palm Springs, Korakia Pensione is an adults-only retreat with 28 individually designed bungalows, guesthouses and villas inspired by Mediterranean and Moroccan designs. Instead of nightly cocktails, guests are invited to gather for Moroccan mint tea and hot chocolate while cuddling up under the desert stars for open-air screenings of popular vintage films. Whether it be poolside during the summer or on the yoga deck during the cooler months, these nights are complete with popcorn, cozy blankets and a peaceful atmosphere.

Awasi Atacama

Nightlife is shifting away from nights out on the town, and Awasi Atacama responds by offering guests a completely different after-dark experience under some of the clearest skies on Earth. The hotel sits in Chile’s Atacama Desert, one of the world’s best destinations for astronomical viewing, and trades nightlife for guided journeys through the sky. After dinner, guests are driven to the local observatory where a trained astronomer leads an immersive experience inside the geodesic dome, as well as guided telescope observations; night photography; and a chance to view a 360-degree, rotating astronomical dome for a deeper look into the skies.

Canaves Collection

Located above Santorini’s volcano caldera, Canaves Collection recently introduced an open-air cinema experience. It has transformed one of the island’s most stunning viewpoints into an intimate evening beneath the stars. As the sun sets over the Aegean Sea, guests are invited to gather in the private outdoor cinema space for a curated selection of classic and favorite films, alongside delicious bites and signature cocktails.

Bawah Reserve

Bawah Reserve offers guests a variety of relaxing night-time experiences. Guests can spend the night on the beach looking at some of the clearest night skies with a telescope, join in on the twice-a-week movie night featuring classic films and comfortable loungers, set out on a night paddleboard trip on a see-through stand-up paddleboard to discover the reef’s marine life at night, or take a guided night snorkel safari to catch a glimpse of nocturnal creatures.

Why Japan Is Best Explored by Sea with Princess

Japan is a destination that rewards repeat visits because no two regions — or seasons —  feel quite the same. One moment, you’re wandering through centuries-old geisha districts in Kanazawa. The next, you’re watching neon reflections dance across Tokyo streets long after midnight.

Time Travel: The World’s Best Aviation Museums Let Visitors Fly Into the Past

The desire to fly is lodged deep in the human psyche. Aside from the common dream of being airborne, references abound in old tales and myths. In the epic poem Shahnameh by long-ago Persian poet Ferdowsi, the fabled King Kai-Káús possessed a flying throne that was drawn into the sky and held aloft by a team of colossal eagles. Built of gold and wood, this throne craft may not have been aerodynamic in design or particularly comfortable to travel in, but it managed to bear the daring king all the way to China.

Bed Bugs on Planes? Rare, But It Just Happened …

It’s a traveler’s worst nightmare: bed bugs. The insect’s name suggests they are limited to beds, meaning the worry is restricted solely to homes, hotels, vacation rentals and any other place we could possibly rest our heads. But, on planes? Well, bed bugs have and do indeed infiltrate the fabrics of even these seats, despite many of us not actually getting any rest on a plane.

The Quest for Quiet: Choose the Best Noise-Canceling Headsets to Suit Your Travel Style

Back in the 1990s, when I was traveling on my airline pilot father’s standby passes, there weren’t many ways for passengers to cancel ambient noise while in flight. I remember squishing and twisting little yellow pairs of foam earplugs with my fingers and letting them rise in my ears while I swirled ice around in my Pawberry Punch and ripped open a cold pouch of Delta-branded Biscoff cookies. Much has changed in travel technology since those days; and although I’ll forever miss Dusty the Delta Air Lion, I’m happy to report no more need for plastic ear foam.
