DIYS.com, the world’s largest D.I.Y. community, sought to find out which of the world’s iconic Christmas trees are the most popular; the website analyzed monthly global search volume to rank the trees.
With 21,140 Google searches, New York City’s Rockefeller Center Christmas tree ranked No. 1. The first Rockefeller tree went up in 1933. With 3,800 global searches, London’s Trafalgar Square Christmas tree, gifted yearly by Norway to the United Kingdom, is No. 2.
The Boston Common Christmas tree ranks third, lit every year in the Common since 1941. Fourth place goes to the tree in Dortmund, Germany, which is the largest in the world. Sydney, Australia’s, tree in Martin Place is fifth, with its 15-minute light display.
