Tate Modern, London’s destination for 20^th– and 21^st-century artwork, recently completed an 11-level, 212-foot-high tower, expanding its exhibition and performance space by 60 percent. In celebration, Mondrian London launches an exclusive partnership with the museum’s biggest exhibition of 2016, a retrospective of American artist Georgia O’Keeffe. Through Oct. 30, Mondrian London’s Georgia O’Keeffe offer includes an overnight stay with full breakfast buffet for two; two tickets to the Georgia O’Keeffe exhibit; and two ‘Jimson Blossom’ cocktails. Cocktail maestro Ryan Chetiyawardana crafted the specialty cocktail — with Porter’s Gin, Yellow Chartreuse, coconut lime, chamomile and passiflora tincture — for the Mondrian’s Dandelyan bar. According to Chetiyawardana, the drink “captures the ethereal summer, floral notes and references O’Keeffe’s use of the canvas and floral depictions.” Mondrian London is located on the city’s South Bank, a five-minute walk to Tate Modern, making it the perfect base for exploring the museum’s new exhibit and wing. The hotel will install a life-size Dandelyan flower on the windows of the bar, including the details of the Georgia O’Keeffe exhibit and visible to all those strolling along the Thames. The Georgia O’Keeffe exhibit brings the artist’s most important works together, including “Jimson Weed/White Flower No. 1” (1932), the most expensive painting by a female artist ever sold at auction. O’Keeffe debuted in 1916, recognized as a trailblazer. Her legacy as an American art icon and pioneer of 20^th-century art is widely recognized, and no other works of her art are in UK public collections. The Tate Modern exhibit is a rare chance to see her paintings outside of the United States.
