Italian Adventure
It was a glorious spring day when I arrived in Rome for the start of my birthday celebration and Italian adventure. Admittedly, it was an ambitious itinerary that included the requisite Roman sightseeing, a visit to Loyola University’s sister campus, two days in Sicily, then on to the Amalfi coast and a very special “family reunion” of sorts in Salerno, before returning home to Chicago.

On a recent drive through Niles, Illinois, I saw a beautiful sculpture I somehow previously never noticed, a colorful mini-replica of the Leaning Tower of Pisa. If there was one, there had to be more, and my search was on.

A Weekend Away
The news and headlines of this past weekend are enough to keep anyone up at night with fear, anxiety and sadness, so my house decided to take a little break this past weekend. We wanted to get lost for a bit and focus on things that made us happy and distracted our thoughts, even if it was just for a bit.
