Harvest Season
This week I got to immerse myself in some of my favorite activities of the late harvest season. It started last Sunday when my husband and I visited the Hillsdale Farmers' Market in a suburban Portland neighborhood (where we were visiting family). I've written several times about how much we enjoy visiting another Portland area farmers market, the Beaverton Farmers Market, whenever we're in the area, but we weren't free on this trip to stop in on Saturday, the only day they operate on the weekends. The Hillsdale market, while smaller, still offers a good range of vendors selling fruit; veggies; baked goods; local meats and seafood; flowers; and assorted processed foods such as preserves, honey, sauces and the like. An added bonus: It operates on Sundays, one of the few in the metro area that does so.

Philadelphia Fall Experience
A few weekends ago my family hosted some friends from Port Saint Lucie, Florida, for a few days. Since the true fall experience doesn’t reach that far south, we started our weekend enjoying the beginning of the season with a trip to Solebury Orchards on one of those unusually hot fall afternoons. After leaving with more apples than we’ll ever need, we followed up our apple picking with some drinks in Peddler’s Village at Free Will Brewing Co. Taproom. The Scarecrow Spiced Ale went perfectly with our autumn-themed afternoon.
Ready for Fall
Although I think summer went by way too quickly, I am officially ready for the fall season and everything that comes with it.

Loving Fall!
Call me “basic,” but I love fall! My house is decked out in fall décor, from autumn-scented hand soaps and candles to a themed table runner and mantle décor, with mums and pumpkins on the front porch. This morning before logging on, I whipped up my first homemade fall dessert, a caramel apple poke cake, made with apples my husband and I picked last weekend, and we’re heading to the Poconos tonight with friends to take in the glory of the changing leaves. Despite warmer temperatures this week, a crispness returned to the air this morning, and the weekend forecast looks like autumnal bliss.
