The choice is all yours: Curl up and watch the snowfall from the luxurious warmth of Gstaad Palace while sipping a cup of custom-blended hot cocoa, or suit up and head for the slopes. This winter marks the hotel’s 100th year of welcoming guests to the Bernese Alpine village of Saanenland. The historic building, long favored by international glitterati, has had a celebratory facelift in room categories that include deluxe and tower suites. The grand spa incudes a selection of steam baths, saunas, a private spa suite, a seven-room hammam experience and a relaxation lounge with fireplace.

To further mark the occasion (and the season), Ski Pleasure stays of four or more nights include a three-day ski pass, a day with a private instructor, half-board and use of the Palace Spa. Rates begin at  CHF 491 (about $540) per person, per night. There’s also the option of a two-night Winter Wonderland getaway, with either a 25-minute husky sled tour or an hour-long horse-drawn carriage ride, half board and use of the spa.
