Travelers to Sweden can now add an authentic boutique farm stay to their itinerary planning. Officially open for its first full season April 2, Sibbjäns is located on the sunny isle of Gotland.
Once a 19th-century horse farm, the property consists of 22 beautifully designed guestrooms. Featuring a natural pool, working farm and Viking wellness offerings, the Scandinavian design includes limewashed walls, soft colors and cozy sheepskin throws.
The destination was imagined by two couples who are longtime friends — Pontus and Sanna Rönn and Jonas Nordlander and Kina Zeidler. For four years, they’ve devoted themselves to creating a regenerative farm where travelers can unwind and experience Scandinavian comfort and hospitality in an unforgettable setting. Guest spaces are spread throughout the Farmhouse Hotel and The Bunkhouse, with rooms named for notable women among the family and friends of the owners.
Constructed using traditional building methods, including custom handwork, farm buildings are set amidst wildflowers. Key to the project were architect Maja Berg and Master of Gotlandic Craft Heritage Erik Larsson. A few of the original buildings were built by Larsson himself.
Full-time farm residents include hens, Mangalitza pigs, sheep and horses. Gardens, under the direction of lead gardener Karin Winarve, produce seasonal fruits, vegetables and other ingredients put to delicious use in the farmhouse kitchen.
Guests are invited to indulge in restorative wellness therapies drawn from Nordic traditions and the outdoor spirit of the Vikings. There’s yoga in the handcrafted yoga barn, a wood-fired sauna, an outdoor gym and other recreational spaces. Tennis courts are being constructed, while current activity offerings include horseback riding, kitesurfing and cycling.
Arrival is by ferry, helicopter or flights from Stockholm to Gotland’s capital of Visby. Sibbjäns is closed during winter months to allow the land to rest and prepare for spring growing season.

Apr 13, 2026I Took a Trip Without Knowing the Destination … Here’s What I Learned
When it comes to travel planning, I’m a control freak. I book flights based on aircraft type and seat availability, overanalyze hotel reviews, know exactly what I’m going to eat or drink before ever setting foot in a restaurant, and capture every last detail in a lengthy Google document. So, when I recently had the opportunity to take a surprise trip — with nary a decision made by me — I was a little skeptical. The thought of relinquishing my travel fate to someone else gives me the shakes. However, a tiny part of me was curious about what would happen if I let go, so Type A personality be damned, I decided to face my inner planner head-on and head out on an unknown solo getaway.
