Looking for an inspirational surrounding to inspire your creative side? When it comes to unique lodging, Free Spirit Spheres is in a world of its own. Located on Vancouver Island’s forested west coast, the spheres resemble windowed moons suspended from tall trees beneath a forest canopy by webs of sturdy rope. Each of the three spherical accommodations is handcrafted and range in size and amenities, and each bears a woman’s name.

With a single bed, Eve is the smallest, measuring 9 feet in diameter and made from cedar; Eryn, crafted from Sitka Spruce, sleeps two comfortably and comes equipped with a tiny kitchen and a settee for relaxing; Melody is made from bright yellow fiberglass with a black walnut interior and sleeps two, with a small sink and cupboard with dishes for snacks and beverages.

Full bathroom, sauna and shower facilities are located at the base of the trees across the five-acre property’s small pond. There are no restaurants on site, but a welcome snack is provided on arrival, and there’s a good choice of pubs and other dining options nearby. Towels and bedding are supplied. Each sphere has its own standard power connection, heater, and limited flat floor space. Guests must be at least 16 years of age, and are urged to bring their own music to enjoy through the sphere’s private sound systems. Rates vary according to sphere and number of people.
