A study conducted by Qualtrics, a market research company, revealed the American workforce’s concerns over shared spaces, travel and safety precautions.
Based on responses from 2,000 Americans surveyed in the last week, the study concluded a variety of results, including 77 percent of individuals surveyed feel uncomfortable taking public transportation and 75 percent feel uncomfortable flying — 20 percent of whom claimed to fly regularly before the COVID-19 crisis, but will not fly regularly in the foreseeable future.
In terms of work-related travel, the survey also revealed most feel more comfortable traveling for business than pleasure — the 17 percent stating they would be comfortable traveling for work right now surpassed the 9 percent stating they would be comfortable traveling for pleasure. Furthermore, 13 percent said they would be comfortable staying at a hotel for work, over the 9 percent who claimed they would for personal travel.
As far as office conditions are concerned, those surveyed stated they would require the workspace was thoroughly cleaned and disinfected regularly (74 percent); consulted with local and state authorities saying it’s safe to return to work (63 percent); set strict policies regarding those who cannot come into the office due to illness or recent travel (63 percent); and make masks available to all who want one (57 percent).
