Munich Airport is bringing a Hawaiian vibe to the Munich Airport Center this summer with the launch of its Surf & Style surfing extravaganza, allowing visitors to watch or join surfers in a giant wave pool. Open daily free of charge 3–8:15 p.m. through Aug. 24, the facility provides boards, wetsuits and professional surfing instructors to offer tips to groups of up to 10 people in 45-minute time windows as well as a grandstand with seating for up to 500 spectators, a cocktail bar, palm trees and lounge chairs. Munich Airport will also offer three-day camps for inspiring young surfers, including admission to the surfing basin, professional supervision and food and beverages for a cost of approximately $20. The facility will host a Stationary Wave Riding competition Aug. 9 and 10, featuring Munich’s best urban suffers against international river surfing elite. Visit the website for more information.
