Fuel released recent survey results pointing toward a decrease in online travel agent usage, an increase in direct bookings and a turn toward mobile booking.
Over the past year, the survey says distrust in online travel agents rose by 50 percent. Ninety percent of leisure travelers are visiting 10 or fewer websites before booking a trip, and typically only conduct travel research for a period of 26 days. In addition, the majority of travelers uses or prefers to use mobile apps to purchase travel add-ons, such as late check-out, room upgrades or trips to hotel restaurants and spas.
“Each year we conduct this survey to better understand the behavior of leisure travelers when researching and booking a hotel. As the go-to digital agency for the hotel industry it is our responsibility to have hard data that our clients and potential clients can rely on and use to help put more heads in beds,” said Stuart Butler, COO, Fuel.
The survey was conducted with 2,900 participants who all planned and completed one or more leisure trips within the last year.
