Southwest Announces New Flights for Winter 2019

Southwest Airlines extended its bookable flight schedule through Jan. 5, 2020, with new service and routes available for booking.

Starting Oct. 1, Southwest provides service from new Long Beach (LGB) slots to Oakland (OAK), San Jose (SJC), Sacramento (SMF) and Las Vegas (LAS).

Beginning Nov. 3, Southwest adds daily non-stop service between Baltimore (BWI) and Greenville, North Carolina (GSP). Nov. 9, the airline launches weekly Saturday service between Boston (BOS) and Fort Lauderdale (FLL).

Beyond new service, Southwest relaunches seasonal winter service in November to popular warm weather destinations throughout the Caribbean. Seasonal service slated to resume includes flights throughout the United States to destinations such as Cancun (CUN), Aruba (AUA) and San José, Costa Rica (SJO).

Global Traveler Surveys Readers About Post-COVID-19 Travel Plans; 78 Percent Plan to Travel in 2020

Global Traveler surveyed its readers last week via an online survey to learn more about travelers’ plans pre- and post-COVID-19 shutdowns. According to respondents, 78 percent are planning a trip in 2020, with 55 percent saying they are more likely to travel domestically first. Nearly all, at 85 percent, canceled trips because of the pandemic.
