South African Airways is set to introduce the world’s most technologically advanced aircraft for long-haul flights later this year.
The Airbus A350-900 will be delivered to South African Airways sometime during the second half of 2019, and debut on the airline’s New York (JFK)–Johannesburg (JNB) route.
In addition to offering enhanced customer comfort and amenities, the new aircraft cuts fuel burn by about 20 percent, reducing cost and the route’s environmental impact.
In terms of customer comfort, the plane’s business class will offer lie-flat seating while the first six rows of economy class will offer expanded legroom.
There is no set timeline for the delivery or introduction of the aircraft outside of 2019.
