Six Senses Hotels recently announced its debut in Japan with a hotel set to open in Kyoto in 2024. Seeking to provide an urban sanctuary as well as act as a revitalizing space, Six Senses Kyoto will lie in the heart of the city, ituated in front of the Myoho-in temple and Tokyokuni-Jinja shrine, as well as walking distance from the Gion district.
“We’re delighted to announce our entry into Japan’s cultural heart, Kyoto. Together with our partners, Tokyo-based Wealth Management, we’re tapping into Kyoto’s rich cultural significance and our brand ethos of sustainability and uplifting experiences to develop a premier wellness-focused destination. The food, impeccable and thoughtful service, gardens, lanes, architecture, and healing and bathing rituals create an exciting addition for us, and downtown location for guests to relax and reconnect. See you in 2024!” said Neil Jacobs, chief executive officer, Six Senses.
With a total of 81 guestrooms surrounding a central courtyard, the hotel aims to connect guests to nature through its gardens and design. BLINK Design Group is tasked with designing the interiors to coincide with Six Senses’ values. Simple lines with earthy organic shades and colors will work together to create a calming and welcoming atmosphere. The biophilic design seeks to mirror the different energies of the city’s life, allowing guests to venture through the hotel as if on a journey.
