It’s that magical time of the year in Nicaragua — especially for turtle lovers. Until January, five species of sea turtles return en masse to the beaches of La Flor Wildlife Refuge. Morgan’s Rock Hacienda and Ecolodge, located close by, wants you to see the spectacle for yourself, with a special five-hour excursion appropriate for all ages that’s likely to include viewing hatchlings making their first foray into the sea. Guests at Morgan’s Rock can take part at $55 per person, with a minimum of two people.

The lodge’s 15 bungalows overlook the sea and forest, with one four-bedroom house on the beach.
