When boarding a flight, you’ve probably never forgotten your baby in the terminal.

On a Saudi Arabian Airlines Jeddah (JED)–Kuala Lumpur (KUL) flight, a case of a forgotten baby forced the pilot to make a U-turn and return to Jeddah so one passenger could collect her precious cargo.

In a story first reported by gulfnews.com, an ordinary flight took a turn when one passenger on board Flight SV832 told a crewmember they forgot their baby in the boarding area of King Abdul Aziz International Airport. The interaction between the pilot and ground control was captured in English and Arabic and posted to social media.

Online comments, from YouTube to Twitter, compared the incident to the popular movie Home Alone in an effort to draw levity to the stressful situation.

Although it is typical for flights to return to their airport of origin in times of emergency, it is tough to find a situation as bizarre as one where parents forget their baby. According to a roundup from the U.K.-based website telegraph.co.uk, other times planes needed to turn around include strange smells, 1,000 bees, improperly presented macadamia nuts and, perhaps the craziest of all, when French actor Gerard Depardieu apparently urinated in front of other passengers in 2011.
