Satisfaction Soars For TSA PreCheck

According to a recent survey conducted by the Global Business Travel Association Foundation and American Express, enrolling in TSA PreCheck can mean a highly more satisfactory flight experience for business travelers, when compared to business travelers who have yet to enroll.

TSA PreCheck obviously helps frequent travelers get through security more quickly, easily and securely, but how much of a difference can it make? According to the GBTA study, 66 percent of travelers enrolled in TSA PreCheck are satisfied with their experience in airport security, and the same number are also satisfied with their overall flight. This is compared to travelers who are not enrolled in TSA PreCheck, of which 47 percent said they were satisfied with their security experience, and 54 percent said they were satisfied with their flight. The survey also took note of the ages of those enrolled, finding that 52 percent of travelers surveyed over the age of 55 were TSA PreCheck members, compared to only 37 and 32 percent of those aged 35–54 and 18–34, respectively.

“GBTA has long supported risk-based approaches to passenger security that both make the process more efficient and more secure. This insight into the mindset and attitudes of business travelers shows that programs like this work and make for a better business travel experience,” said Michael W. McCormick, executive director and COO, GBTA.

In addition to addressing TSA PreCheck usage, the survey asked business travelers about their travel expense reporting habits, travel itineraries and how they combine leisure with travel. It found 80 percent of those over the age of 55 were satisfied with using digital tools to keep track of expense receipts, with 74 percent satisfied using digital tools to complete their expense reports. Comparatively, only 59 percent of millennials were satisfied using digital tools to keep track of expense receipts, and only 55 percent were satisfied using digital tools to complete expense reports.

When asked about combining business and leisure, 67 percent of all business travelers admitted it was very important to them to have the option to extend a business trip for leisure purposes. This is particularly true for millennials, especially females working at small to mid-size companies.
