The 351 rooms and suites within Sandals Royal Curaçao sets in motion innovative ways to experience this Caribbean island with all-new Sandals “Firsts,” while reinforcing the company’s “island-first approach” to tourism and its impact on the local ecosystem.

“Our vision for the Sandals Royal Curaçao experience was inspired just as much by the island’s natural beauty and colorful culture, as it was by our guests and the many ways they can engage with this amazing destination,” said Adam Stewart, executive chairman, Sandals Resorts. “This resort, a true labor of love years in the making with my father and our late founder, Gordon “Butch” Stewart, at the helm, is a testament to the transformative power of tourism via next-generation experiences that not only up the ante on all-inclusive vacations, but celebrate the local people, flavors and terrains every step of the way.”

Sandals Royal Curaçao is located within the exclusive, 3,000-acre Santa Barbara estate, just 15 miles from Curaçao International Airport. The resort’s west-facing position on the southernmost part of the island intertwines nature with the resort experience, while offering one of the Caribbean’s most spectacular sunsets. Couples will discover the beauty and geographic diversity of Curaçao, known for its adventurous terrain, beautiful beaches, limestone caves, great diving sites and the capital city of Willemstad, a UNESCO World Heritage site.

The bi-level Dos Awa Infinity pool boasts views overlooking the Spanish Water and the rugged mountain landscape beyond. Guests can relax on poolside lounges or swim up to the bar for signature Curaçao cocktails with a view.

Locally inspired accommodations include brand-new Sandals’ room categories, such as the Kurason Island Poolside Butler Bungalows and Awa Seaside Butler Bungalows, overlooking private lagoons and the coast of Curaçao. Accommodation amenities include hardwood floors, vaulted ceilings, custom-crafted king-sized beds, fully stocked wet bars, smart TVs, Sandals’ Signature Butler Elite service, airport transfers and 24/7 room service for select suites.

Sandals Royal Curaçao offers eight restaurants, along with three beachside gourmet food trucks and 13 bars. The resort also presents the brand’s first-ever off-site dining program, Island Inclusive, which expands its all-inclusive dining options to eight partner restaurants around the destination. Top-level suites include a complimentary convertible MINI Cooper to drive around the island, creating a great travel experience that also drives visitor business to local establishments.

The Lancaster Hotel Review

Located in the heart of Houston’s Theatre District, the recently renovated Lancaster Hotel originally opened in 1926. The classic interior with an abundance of natural light floods the two-story lobby. A shimmering chandelier and elegant marble floors juxtapose nicely with the contemporary art displayed on the salon staircase wall.

Beyond the Beach: See Hawai’i’s Diverse Verdant and Volcanic Landscapes on an Island-Hopping Cruise

Midway Atoll is the end of the Hawai‘ian Islands, literally. This is the ultimate fate of these low, sandy islets ringing a lagoon: Eventually these last remnants of a once large volcanic island will sink beneath the waves, completing a story that began 1,500 miles away. Midway, though not easy to get to, occasionally features in cruise itineraries. Holland America Line’s Westerdam offers a rare chance to glimpse the remotest of all the Hawai‘ian Islands with a scheduled stop in October 2024. You can still see the relics of the famous World War II battle here as well as a million nesting albatrosses and other seabirds.

Hidden Gem: Discover the Distinct Biodiversity and Fascinating Cultural Riches of Madagascar

For sightseeing, there is quite literally no other place in the world like Madagascar. Formed more than 150 million years ago when a chunk split off the supercontinent Gondwana, eventually creating the globe’s fourth-largest island, Madagascar evolved in isolation, developing a unique ecosystem entirely its own. Up to 90 percent of all Madagascar’s plant and animal species exist nowhere else. This is the only place to visit the natural habitat of proto-primate lemurs; the multifingered aye-aye; the catlike fossa; spindly baobab trees; and the multiple exotics found in the unique rain forests, dry deserts, high plateau, coasts and island ecosystems of what is dubbed “the eighth continent.”
