Round Hill Hotel and Villas has worked to rehabilitate local marine life.

The efforts are pursued in conjunction with local marine scientists to bring back coral, fish and shellfish to the property’s waters. Some of the biggest efforts the property undertakes include enacting a no-fishing sanctuary and an active coral reef enhancement technique called Coral Gardening.

“We are incredibly proud to be part of such a worthwhile cause, as well as raising much-needed awareness of how to protect our reefs,” said Josef Forstmayr, managing director, Round Hill. Over three years, the project will replant 5,000 corals to the property’s reef gardens. So far, 1,100 key corals have been planted.

Local spear fishermen help the cause by acting as reef gardeners. Local fishermen have been trained to protect and nurture the reef as it reestablishes itself.

In order to foster education and awareness of the coral reefs, Round Hill provides educational tours to guests and local school children.
